Well, it's really hard to fathom that another year has passed since our last visit to the Ducktail Run in Gas City, Indiana. My father and I have been making the trek pretty much every year since the early 1980's. The Ducktail Run is held every year in conjunction with James Dean Days held the neighboring town of Fairmount, Indiana. Fairmount is the birthplace and childhood home of James Dean. He is also buried there.
Although the James Dean Run seems to be getting smaller each year, the Ducktail Run is doing just the opposite. Thousands of car owners, swap meet vendors, and spectators flock to the 4 day event.
The cool thing about the Ducktail Run is with SOO MANY cars, there is a GREAT variety. It's also one place were you are almost guaranteed to see and hear some great muffler rapping and flamethrowing.
My friend Rocky had his '39 Chevy "homebuilt" at the show. It was great to see it out and about.
