15th Annual Blanket Run

Well, we have been attending the annual Indy Blanket Run every year since close to it's inception. Always a great time, ALWAYS great stops, great cars, great people, and best of all, it's for a great cause.

Here is the premise....participants bring new and/or slightly used blankets to donate to a specified gathering spot in Indianapolis. Blankets are collected and eventually donated to the battered women's shelter and/or homeless shelters in the Indianapolis area. In exchange for the blanket, the participants receive a map listing several mystery stop locations.

Participants enjoy breakfast with other car enthusiasts, and then take off for a day of great car related sites and sounds. Each year, the event attracts more participants, and offers unique and new stops. This year's event drew nearly 250+ people.

Neglected and in Need of Updates...

HAPPY 2018

Wow....2017 got me by the cojones and flew by. Needless to say, my blog has been greatly neglected, and I am sure I have lost many followers.

Life has a way of changing your likes, dislikes, and focus. Over the course of the past couple of years, I have went to less traditional hot rod events, sold the Nifty50, bought a 1965 VW Beetle the "Java Bean", and even more recently purchased a 1968 VW Campmobile barn find.

In 2017, I along with a couple other area Muncie VW enthusiasts founded the Muncie Volkswagen Club. Our numbers continue to grow, and we have enjoyed going to several events together.

2017 also saw club start a joint venture with the Muncie Jack's Donuts. We hosted several "Cars & Coffee" outings in the summer and fall, and already have event dates for 2018. These events are free of charge, and open to any make, model or year of car or truck. It is just a fun way to get out and enjoy our vehicles and meet others who equally enjoy their cars.

It is hard to imagine, but in 2017, we also hosted our 8th Annual Wheels for Williams event. This event continues to grow larger every year. It is always a lot of work and preparation, but always leaves me with a great feeling when it is all said and done.

So the bottom line is....I am hoping to get back to regular posts to this site. As I get older, I find that I am taking less pictures at events, enjoying the events more, and probably having more to say about them. Which means you will probably start to see an evolution in the number and type of posts to this page. Also, while I still enjoy the traditional hot rod scene (and hope to someday be able to afford to get back into it), I am currently content to enjoy taking my wife and kids places in the VeeDubs. With that being said, some of the content of this page will most likely shift focus to the local Volkswagen scene.

Looking forward to BIG things in 2018. We even have some ideas up our sleeves at the possibility of hosting some new events. I would love to hear feedback from those who are still following this page. See you in 2018!
