Detroit Autorama @ The Cobo Center!!!

Hey Suede and Chrome readers! Sorry, no posts today! I'm up in Detroit this weekend at the Autorama! You can bet I'll be taking lots of pictures and will hopefully get a chance to meet Pete Chapouris from So-Cal Hotrods.

Hopefully, I'll be back in Indiana tonight to begin uploading lots of kool stuff to the pages of Suede and Chrome!

Last Post from 2010 Indy Motorama 1962

Man, it doesn't matter whether it's a Dodge, VW, Chevrolet, or even a Ford, I love these snub-nosed pickup trucks of the late 60's.

This little wagon has a similar body color to my Nifty Fifty with a flatter finish.

Can you believe this one started out as a 4-door sedan?

 WOW! 'nuff said here.

You don't see to many C-cab T's anymore.

The "Stude Tomato" had an interesting story. It has an Avanti engine under the hood. The owner had some pictures of it BLOWING AWAY several different muscle cars at the dragstrip. This would be a real sleeper on the street.

Saw this little chopper trike as we were leaving. It was pulling a little wooden casket trailer. The bike's name is "Last Ride" (which I thought was I nice way to finish my posts from Indy!)

A Couple More Days of Posts from Indy

This 1948 Mercury was very kool.

The candy red flames on this little effie really caught your eye as you passed by.

I REALLY liked the looks of this little Chevrolet, both inside and out.

I never get tired of seeing this roadster at area events.

Cool trucks and other stuff from Motorama 1962

How about a very kool rat rod built out of a 2 ton International flatbed dually?!?!?!

I love these little teardrop trailers.

Avid Suede and Chrome readers might recognize this little pickup roadster. It was "under construction" at Linder's in Indy when the Righteous Rodders toured their new digs on the GodSpeed Blanket Run.

2010 Motorama 1962 continued...

Ah yes....this is what I like to see! Lots of cool traditional hot rods, rat rods, and kustoms all in one place.

This is Naomi's (of Indy Road Rocket fame) two toned beauty.

Pretty cool tuck and roll interior in this one.
Still lots more to come from the Indy Motorama in the days ahead.

Motorama 1962 Continued...

Yancy from the Indy Road Rockets was happy to show-off his newly installed air ride suspension on his sweet Cadillac.

Once again in this post, several familiar cars...like the "Leftover Special" and "Full Throttle", but also other cool stuff like this slick Ford wagon with metalflake top.

Still More From the 2010 Motorama.

Lots and lots of cool stuff at this year's event. Always cool to see a nice mix of familiar cars and ones that I've never seen before.

No matter how many times I see Scott Linder's Krylon Special it's always cool. Scott told me he put on his longjohns, battled the elements, and DROVE his little roadster to the show! I've seen Scott do the same at the past two GodSpeed Blanket Runs...some might say the guy is a bit "loco".

Rocky Hodges had his '39 at this year's event. If you've been reading Suede and Chrome for awhile, I'm sure Rocky's car is familiar, as I followed this build throughout it's construction. If you're new to this site, you might want to go back through the archives to learn more about this cool ride.

Motorama 1962 Post #2

Man, I love the premise for Motorama 1962!

Everything has to be pre-1963, no billet aluminum wheels, no digital dashes, etc.

The brick walls and bare concrete floors of the buildings add to the whole feel of the show. It's like you've stepped back to a simpler time....and things were GOOD.

I've seen this "stagecoach" at a couple of area shows in the past. The last time I saw it was at an indoor show in Richmond, Indiana. Lots more from the Indy Motorama to post....I'm also looking forward to Detroit! We've got our hotel reservations, and the Autorama is just a few days away. Hopefully the weather allows us to make the drive north.
