Nose Art and Other Cool Stuff...

Hey Hepcats and kittens! Recently received these photographs from a reader who visited the Wright-Pattersons Airforce Base Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Avid Suede and Chrome readers may remember a series I posted last summer concerning the history of Nose Art. Here are some great examples taken from planes in the museum.
For those who may not know, Dayton, Ohio is the birthplace of Aviation. Wilbur and Orville Wright had a bicycle shop in Dayton. It was here they built their Wright B flyer. They took it to Kittyhawk, North Carolina to conduct their historical flights.
If memory serves me, I believe the original Wright Bike Shop was moved to Dearborn, Michigan.

  1. You are right. I have seen the bike shop in Dearborn at Greenfield Village. It is set up just as it was in the day of Orville and brother Wilber. Someday I will take in the vintage Ford show that is held each year there. Mustang Mike
