Fall Classic Post #2

It's always cool to see this Olds from Arcanum, Ohio @ any event.

This Ford belongs to a friend of mine, Dan Light. He is the police chief in Arcanum, Ohio and he originally bought the car with the intent on making it into a "Mayberry-like" Police Cruiser. However, his wife had other ideas. lol

2011 Rolling 50's Fall Classic Post #1

One of my favorite local events is the Fall Classic hosted by the Rolling 50's Car Club on the streets of Greenville, Ohio. This event usually draws several hundred cars, trucks and motorcycles. The event is typically held on a Saturday afternoon and last until early evening.

I REALLY liked this 1986 Harley bobber with sidecar!

The Voodoo Trucker for sale!

A friend of mine has his absolutely kool pickup truck for sale...MAN this thing is wicked! His little girl is growing up and he would like to find something with a little more "family room". I'd love to have this sweet ride myself!

The Voodoo Trucker is officially FOR SALE 1953 Chevy Pick Up 3100 - Mustang II Front end, Tubular A arms, Air Ride suspension front and rear, 4 link rear, vortec 350 with Edelbrock intake & carb, ceramic coated headers, Mooneyes finned valve covers and breather. Lots of mods, shaved door handles and emblems, filled in stake pocket holes and bed rail holes, 3 inch raised bed floor, kustom tailgate with renched license plate, 1961 Polara Taillights, kustom steel running boards with louvers, louvered front fenders, louvered rearend cover, kustom louvered air tank enclosure, kustom front and rear louvered splash pans, shaved gas neck, spun aluminum fuel tank, filled in hood seam, kustom exhaust that runs down bed rail, factory style bench seat, shaved and smoothed dash, louvered door panels, gennie shifter, nostalgic Superior 500 steering wheel, Coker Wide whites and painted steelies. Improvements to Suede and Chrome

I ran across a few pictures I had taken @ the 2011 Relix Riot this morning that I don't think ever made it to the Suede and Chrome website. Thought I'd take a minute in today's post to try a couple of changes I've been thinking about making. First, and most noticeable should be the increased size of the photographs in today's post. I haven't been happy with the margin and border size on the website for some time, but haven't had a chance to play with the margins in order to increase the maximum picture size. I'm hoping this change makes the website more attractive, shows more detail to the viewer, and does not cause any issues with any available operating system you might be viewing with.

The second change will go unnoticed if you are not using a mobile device to view this website. I've made the site much more accessible via mobile devices, allowing readers a better viewing experience when trying to get their "Suede and Chrome fix" via their cell phones.

I'm hoping I have some time this week to start posting pictures from several events that I've attended over the past few weeks, these include the Rolling 50's Fall Classic in Greenville, Ohio, The 1st Annual Goodguy Wix Nationals at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, The James Dean Festival in Fairmount, Indiana, and the Ducktail Run in Gas City, Indiana. Kustom Kulture is a US neologism used to describe the artwork, the vehicles, the hairstyles, and the fashions of those who drove and built custom cars and motorcycles in the United States of America from the 1950s through today. In the early days of hot rodding, many fashions and styles developed. Over time, each of these distinct styles of customizing have blended and reshaped our everyday life. Artists such as Von Dutch (Kenny Howard), custom car builders such as Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, hot rod and lowrider customizers such as the Barris Brothers, along with numerous tattoo artists, automobile painters, and movies and television shows such as American Graffiti, Happy Days, The Munsters (The Munster Koach, Drag-u-la) and The Monkees (The Monkeemobile) have all helped to form what is known as Kustom Kulture.
Kustom Kulture is usually identified with the greasers of the 1950s, the drag racers of the 1960s, and the lowriders of the 1970s. Other subcultures that have had an influence on Kustom Kulture are the Skinheads, mods and rockers of the 1960s, the punk rockers of the 1970s, the metal and rockabilly music, along with the scooterboys of the 1980s, and psychobilly of the 1990s. Each separate culture has added their own customizations to the cars, their own fashions, influenced the music, and added their own ideas of what is cool, of what is acceptable, and what is not. Everything from wild pinstriped paintjobs, to choptop Mercurys, to custom Harley-Davidson and Triumph Motorcycles, to metalflake and black primer paintjobs, along with music, cartoons, and monster movies have had an impact on what defines anyone and anything who is part of this automobile subculture.
In the 1990s and 2000s, Kustom Kulture had taken on a rebirth of American subcultures from the 50's and 60's with DIY activities. Each style is distinct, and has its roots in American automobile history. Many styles that would not have tolerated each other in the past now come together in large car shows.

But we put it together and when we got thru

So we drove up town just to get the tags
