Transportation Exhibit @ the American History Museum

Well, it was nice to get to sleep in a little this morning, having just returned from a 4 day bus trip with 60+ 8th graders to our nation's capital.
This year, we had a chance to visit the American History Museum. It's been a while since I've been in this particular Smithsonian since it has been closed for renovations for the past 3 years.
I was a bit disappointed that many of the things I remember about the museum (i.e. Archie Bunker's chair, Fonzie's leather jacket, etc.) are no longer on display. However, there was an exhibit on the history of transportation in the United States that I thought was pretty interesting.
I was particularly interested with this display, depicting an early service station complete with dial face gas pump, Model A and what appears to be an early mechanic's rotisserie.
Having had many model train layouts in my early years, and now having a 3 year old that is "into" wooden train sets, I enjoyed the early steam engines on display.
Man...this school bus was VERY kool.
This harley was decked out in chrome!
This traditional looking Model A roadster was awesome.
O.k....this first series Honda Civic isn't Suede and Chrome worthy, just thought it was hilarious that it was on display. (They also had a first generation Dodge minvan on display near this Honda.)

It took some time...but....

Well, it took a little bit, but I think I figured out another way to post pictures into Suede and Chrome.
Here are a few of the last pictures I took a couple of weekends ago at the IVY Tech Cruise In in Richmond, Indiana

I'll try to figure out what's wrong with the photo uploader (maybe it's a blogger thing). But until then, I'll continue to link photos the way I've linked these.

Time Flies!

Wow! Just noticed it's been a few days since my last post. This time of year gets pretty busy for a middle school principal. Lots of stuff to get finished before the end of the school year, lots of planning for end of the year events, and already working on things for next school year. Man....I'm certainly glad the weather is warming up and the car shows and cruise ins have started. Helps me keep my sanity.

Well, thought I'd make one final post of some pictures I took at the IVY Tech show in Richmond, Indiana a couple of weekends ago. I'm packing to leave with the 8th grade class this evening to head to Washington D.C. Won't be back to late Friday night, so I doubt I'll post anything until Saturday or Sunday. There are a couple area shows this coming weekend, but as old as Ol' Scruffy's getting, this class trip may wear hard on me and cancel and thoughts of taking the Nifty Fifty anywhere this weekend.
Hey, for some reason I'm having trouble uploading pictures today from my laptop. If you want to see some more pictures from the recent Richmond, Indiana show, check out the "Country Cruiser's" website: by following this link

Have a GREAT week. I'll have my camera with me in D.C.....ya never know when ya might run across something that is "Suede and Chrome worthy"!
