2016 Rods, Dubs & Blankets - Stop #2 Whitey's Sinclair Service Station

Our second stop on the 2016 Rods, Dubs & Blankets Run was just a few miles down the road on the other side of Winchester, outside a little town called Harrisville. On his own property, owner Terry Whiteneck has created a throwback Sinclair Gas Station, so complete, he even has vintage candy boxes in the glass case at the counter.

2016 Rods, Dubs & Blankets - Stop #1 Winchester Speedway

Well, we were able to do something we have been talking about for a long time during the month of November. Suede & Chrome sponsored the 2016 Rods, Dubs & Blankets Run. The day started with coffee and donuts at Monroe Central Junior-Senior High School in Parker City, Indiana. With a donation of a new or gently used blanket, participants received a map that included all the stops for the day.

The first stop of the Run was the Winchester Speedway. The speedway is one of the oldest tracks in the US, and at one time was known as the World's Fastest 1/2 mile. Lots of famous drivers cut their teeth on this track, including folks like Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin. Thanks to track owner Charlie Shaw for allowing us to visit the track, and providing the track historian to answer any and all of our questions.

The best part of our stop, was being allowed to take as many laps as we wanted in our vehicles. Granted, we were restricted to 45 miles an hour, but the thrill of taking the high banks in a vintage vehicle was very exciting!

Rods, Dubs and Blankets 2016

We are excited to be a part of an effort to help the homeless and less fortunate in Muncie, Indiana. On November 12th, we will be helping sponsor the efforts of the Righteous Rodders Motor Club, and the Muncie Volkswagen Club, as they collect blankets for the homeless. Check out their event page link below to find out more about their efforts, and how you can be a part of it.
